How long to leave a rooster locked up?

Recently had to pen up my rooster due to the fact he has some serious hormonal issues,he mates with our ducks!He has done it since he was a young boy.He has plenty of hens,which he is pretty busy on them too.He recent made one duck hen bleed,he’s smart enough to know the difference between male and female.So,I decided to give him some pen up time and time to maybe forget about the ducks,and let them too refresh.Was thinking about keeping him in there till maybe middle of June?How long do you guys?Current setup.He and his “Girl”have a pretty fair space.View attachment 1395926

How old is he? I keep cockerel off the flock until they are at least 1YO and I prefer 2YO. They need time to calm down,,,,

This guy is three years old.Has been doing it for awhile.This is his first time causing actual injury to her so giving them all sometime to refresh.

Middle of June sounds good, hopefully it is just spring hormones scrambleing his brains. I personally have had a couple of older fellas romantic cheese slide off the cracker and not ever come back at 3 or 4 years old. They got to live a bachelor life in the dirty old roo's home.

I am thinking of separating my rooster too.
He is a 2 year old that is great with the hens, he takes good care of them and watches over them and doesn’t tear them up. But breeding season is over for me. Don’t want to get rid of him because I want to use him again come March or April. He would have a 4x8 coop attached to an 8x8 run attached to the chickens run. so he would have a nice bachelor pad.
So my concerns.
Is 6 months to long?
And I don’t supppose i could let him out to free range,
which is only once or twice a day while I’m there, to protect the hens?
Of course I don’t think it would be too much to ask of him to go right back to his run when I put them up
I just think that I would feel sorry for the poor guy
I’m trying to get over that cuz my chickens aren’t pets
Oh one other thing
I have 3 black Orpington that are 14 weeks old and one looks as tho it may be a he. Hasn’t cockadoodledoed yet but he has a wattle comb bigger than the other two and he’s bigger than the other two. Rooster number 1 hasn’t attacked him yet so. Still waiting for the verdict. But wasn’t planning on putting him with #1 till I know for sure. Which could be a problem?

it depends on the roos
I have a bachelor pad and when it is down to one roo in there I will let him out with the flock for a few hours. But the flock has 2 roos. So The bachelor just hangs out on the edges of the flock and goes back at night to his pad.

Why separate him?...If he is good with the Hens and you collect eggs daily you won't have Chicks...

Why in the world would you want to seperate a nice mature rooster? Do you have any idea how rare those actually are? If you go moving him around and messing up his established groove he might not be nearly as useful to you when you need him.
