How long to leave splint on?

We have a 3 day old chick who had a slipped tendon. I took her to the vet because I couldn't tell if I was getting the tendon back in place. She now has a splinted leg. She isn't able to use it. She can't seem to get her balance. When she is lying down, it sticks out behind her. The vet said she would recheck her in a week. That seems like a long time to have her in the splint. How long should I leave it on? She is separated from everyone else because they pick on her bum leg. Will they accept her if she is gone for several days?

Call the vet back and explain this to him. I believe you'd have to leave it on for at least that time from what I've read about slipped tendons.
