How long to wait on eggs with no signs of life??

Okay, any of you guys having in luck with yours?

I hate to keep asking, but as of 2:30 today, we're in Day 24. Still no pips or anything. I have to ask--people who have had chicks hatch out on Days 24 or 25--did they pip or anything before that day? Anything to give you a sign that they were still viable?

What about taking them out to candle them to see if you could tell anything before you give up on them?? Think that would blow any slight chance they may have at hatching?

Nothing. I am pretty sure the humidity spike om day 22 did them in. Then the water in the bator got really scummy and humidity got too low on day 23 and never could get it back up. Gave up today.

Hate to hear that nobody else is having any better luck than me!

Sorry for your loss "needtohatch"

Did you open any of them to see if you could tell what happened? I plan to do that with any unhatched eggs...which looks like it will be the rest of them. Of course, I'm doubtful that I have any idea what I'm looking at.

I had crazy temp & humidity variations when the first 4 chicks hatched. They were all over the bator, playing king of the egg and touching the heating element. Plus, one didn't absorb all of its yolk, so I figured it wouldn't last the typical 2-3 days like the others. We decided we needed to take those 4 out and did this late on Day 22. The temp & humidity stabilized fairly quickly, once we got those chicks and egg shells out (really quickly). However, I'm wondering if that still didn't do in the unhatched eggs.

I went and bought the fan kit for my LG this morning. Maybe that will help with any hot and cool spots on my next hatch.

No did not open, figured that with humidity going down the last 24hrs they were in I would not be albe to tell if they drowned or got shrink wraped. I am just going to try and learn from this and next time I think will use more washclothes/sponges and not fill water trays so much. That way I can quick reach in to take them out if humidity starts to go to high and wont have to worry about egg carton getting wet. I am just happy at this point that I got some chicks since this was my first hatch.
Hope someone gets more hatches.

OH, good idea! I filled my trays up and then I didn't really have a good way to get the humidity down when it shot from 60% to 70% within a couple of hours.

Thanks!
