thanks!

The hold back dates should be clearly posted on the antibiotics label. if not look it up on the net. normal hold back times range from 14 days on up. min 14 days is what would be a safe start.

i was going to wait 20 days i think i'll stick with that

i was giving them duramycin and package doesnt tell me the answer to when the eggs are edible all the package says is this:

Do not slaughter animals for food within 5 days of treatment.

thanks again

thanks i see this on the page

Not for use in turkeys or chickens producing eggs for human consumption. Do not use for more than 14 consecutive days.

that doesnt mean i can NEVER eat the eggs again does it?

from what i have read plenty of people use antibiotics on their hens...

It is my understanding (from everything I've found researching) that after the necessary withdrawal time, a person can resume eating the eggs PROVIDED THAT THE PERSON IS NOT ALLERGIC TO ANY ANTIBIOTICS.
So I guess you're at your own risk if you choose to eat them at some point.

we arent allergic but i guess i cant give them out unless i ask first

bummer!

It probably depends on the antibiotic used. I once used oxytetracycline, and asked the suppler about the waiting period for the eggs. I was told 10 - 14 days. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but DD has had reactions to antibiotics in the past. A simple small dose of minocycline from the doctor almost killed her once, and she has had a minor reaction to cechlor (sp?). I won't take the chance.
