How long until i trash the eggs?

20 is a lot of eggs.
Are the eggs sticking out from under her? If so, I would remove 8 eggs if they are hers. I would have done this earlier before they developed this far, so at this point i would just remove the ones that seem dead or not properly developed if any.

Also, when they hatch, she will not take care of the chicks til the other eggs hatch. This is why you would want to remove the bad ones asap because she will still be on incubating mode til it hatches.

Well, she will keep taking and taking. If she is not separated others will lay eggs with her and she will steal other chickens eggs by rolling them or carrying them under her wing. There was a video of a chicken with 50 eggs under her.
A few eggs are sticking out from under her, today I will take the dead ones. Wow, 50 eggs! Impressive!

Okay that makes sense. Did you mark the eggs that she started with? It might be good idea next time (or separate her from the flock). Other hens love to add eggs to setting clucks.

When we had BO hens, four of them went broody at once. I took a marker and drew a circle all the way around the eggs I wanted each hen to keep so I could tell which were theirs without touching them. Every day I would remove all other eggs, that is, all the fresh eggs, from each nest and only let them keep the marked eggs.

Ok, so my hen started to get tired of sitting on eggs so I moved them to an incubator, my friend had some eggs hatching and my hen is happily raising her chicks. One of the eggs has pipped! I realized I marked the day my hen started sitting on them, and it has been exactly 4 weeks and 2 days. I hope the chicks hatch out healthy!

Ok, just making sure, you know broody hens get off to eat and drink and dustbathe etc right? She will get off for about an hour then get back on. It’s necessary.

Im sure you do but just making sure, hope they hatch well!

Yes I do :) She has just been getting sick of it and it has been quite a bit longer than it should take for the eggs to hatch, and I think she has given up hope. I also thought it would be easier to candle if needed with an incubator, so I don’t have a broody hen growling at me haha!

That can happen, sorry to hear that but its probably for the best. Like you said it would likely be easier to candle. And guarantee she doesn’t quit last minute.

I also realized I haven’t posted a picture of my hen yet, so here she is all happy with her adopted chicks! There are 4 chicks so far :)! I also name all of my chickens, and this sweet girls name is Daisy. If you have any name ideas for the chicks feel totally free to write some suggestions ! Thank you all so much for your help and support through this! I can hear the pipped silkie egg chirping!
