It could take anything from a few days to several weeks for hens to settle in at a new home and resume laying. Hopefully it will be the former in your case!

If they were laying before, almost always before two weeks. If memory serves, yolks take aprrox two weeks to develop in the ovary before they can be released into the infundibulum to begin being made into an egg. So, if the hen's body decided to start over completely because the move was a great "event," then the longest it will probably take is two weeks. Of course, it could take less time depending on how the hen's system decides to deal with the move and what state her yolks were in in the first place.

Of course, a lot of other things can play their part. The hen has to feel secure. The lighting must be correct. The feed has to be correct. Etc. Etc. Etc. But I personally wouldn't worry about looking to find out why my hens (that just got moved) weren't laying until after the two week mark passed.

hi so i introduced 4 new hens and one has been laying daily and the others wont even go into the second story yet unless i physically place them in. I put ceramic eggs in there nesting boxes so they can see it and know where to lay. I guess just wait it out right? eventually they’ll see the nest and know to lay there
