I just got 3 adult hens, and I want them to be able to free range in my yard. Do they instinctively know to go back to their coop at the end of the day, and to stick by it, or will they wander all over the place and get lost? Should I keep them in their coop for awhile before letting them out to roam?

    thanks!

Leave them in the coop for 4-7 days.

They get comfortable and come back.

aha! Thanks for the quick advice! That will make it even easier to win over my husband with my first ever full grown chickens... there will be eggs before he has to see or hear from them! [IMG]

Hey lulu! I even leave my babies in for a week in a dog pen in the corner.
