Do feed bags come in standard sizes? How long will the "big" bag last, for say, 10 chickens? Assuming you do scratch and other foods as well. Thank you!

I am feeding 25 chickens. They get kitchen scraps and a little scratch for a treat. They are not free ranging right now. A 50 lb bag lasts about a week or 10 days when using my hanging feeder. I hope this helps.

I have 6 RIR's. A 50# bag of pellets lasts about 5-7 weeks, depends on the weather (hot / cold), how often they get out to free range, and how much greens they get from the grocer.

We have 5 standard chicks, and 1- 50lb bag has lasted us 7wks now. There is about 1/4 or so of the bag left. Just getting low enough for me to want to go and get another bag of feed.

With scraps and some free ranging, I allow 1/4 lb/bird/day. (In the Summer when there are lots of bugs available they eat less commercial feed.)

So for 10 birds

10 X 1/4 lb = 2 1/2 lb per day

50 lb divided by 2 1/2 lb = 20 days

That said, I do provide layer pellets free choice. They can eat all they want. But the consumption numbers run as I described.

I think the "standard" figure for adult birds is ~1/4 lb per bird per day if that's all they eat. Somewhat less for free ranging and table scraps.
