I have a hen who went broody about a month ago on seven eggs. How long will they generally sit before they give up on them?

Thanks
Mike

I've found that the best way to snap them out of it is to move them. I put my broody bantam in a separate pen. I actually moved her nest as well, and was going to let her hatch, but she quit setting when I moved her. So I'd suggest if you want her to quit, move her to a new location with out access to a nest box. It should only take a few days. You may even put her in a crate or something for those days.

You should remove the eggs. If they haven't hatched after at least 25 days, I'd not wait any longer. (Takes 21 days for eggs to hatch.) If you want her to hatch, give her new eggs.

Guess I was wrong. Look what showed jup tpday.

Do I need to put out starter food?

Yay! Guess those 3 weeks seemed like a month! Glad you didn't throw the eggs out!

Yes, you should put out starter food and water. The hen will teach them to eat and drink. :)
