How long will it last?

I have 25 chicks ordered and soon to ship and was wondering how long can I expect a 25# bag of Southern States chick starter to last them. How long does it take a new chick to eat 1# of feed? Thanks for the responses!

It can depend on the breed. Broilers will want to eat more but you gotta watch it, you don't want them to grow too fast. Plus as they get bigger the more they will eat. A 25 lb bag may last you three or four weeks. Maybe less.

My 50 lb bag of chick starter lasted 12 weeks for 5 chickens. And that was given free choice.

forgot to mention...not meat birds, these are brown egg layers- BR, RIR, BSL Australorps and speckled Sussex

I went through the mash chick feed much faster than the crumbles. Crumbles should last ou atleast 3 weeks.
