How long will it take? Dying rabbit.

Thanks, it's not the heat, we are north of Seattle and it got all the way up to 66F today.

He seems comfortable, still won't eat or drink. Just a matter of time I guess.

I have never tried this but it was suggested to me:

we had a cat that got caught up with my husband's back tire, it was pretty obvious the cat was not going to make, I called a vet and asked them what to do..

They gave me two suggestions:
one to bring her in and they would put the cat down, well I really couldn't do that, at that time I had just lost my job and was looking for another and my husband wasn't working, he was trying to get disability. I had explained this to them and they understood

so they gave me a second suggestion, to put the cat into a box and have the exhaust from a car shoot into the box, they told me this will put the cat to sleep and adventually die. I didn't have the heart to do it but the cat ended up dieing within in a few hours anyway...

I'm not trying to sound mean in anyway, it was something that was suggested to me.....

If the child won't see the rabbit afterwards, I'd say the sure-fire bleed out method. But, I realize not everyone can do this.

I would think a small rubbermaid tub would end it fairly soon...please don't use CO2. I've breathed it in and it burns. Like a thousand icy knives in your lungs. Lesson was learned. When going into the CO2 chamber, make sure the input has shut down COMPLETELY.

Okay, now you've got me scared. We discovered some rat droppings in the hutch, so he may have been bitten.

So, I don't think I could cull him physically, but if I take the suggestion to use a rubbermaid tub do I put anything in there to knock him out? A rag soaked with something? Or just put him in and close the lid? (this is horrible to even contemplate)

It's very unusual for a rat to carry rabies, as they usually don't survive the attack from the rabid animal. Really, just take her to a vet and have the poor suffering animal humanely euthanized.
