I'm sorry to hear of your loss and troubles.A month ago a coyote scaled our six foot walls and killed two of our chickens and maimed one. She is healing but now my two left are still not laying any eggs. How long will it take ?
Thank you, they are about 2 1/2 years old and yes, they were both layers before the attack. They are in a coop run so they can wander around a bit. I originally had four and coyote killed two of them and injured one. The other one got away safe into the shed. But I have noticed that it seems like they laid some type of egg because I’ll find a yolk spot on the ground, but no traces of an egg shell. We did add oyster shells to their diet.I'm sorry to hear of your loss and troubles.
What is your coop/run set up like? Do you have photos?
How old are the hens?
Were the 2 that were uninjured laying eggs before the attack? How often?
Do they free roam or are they in a secure coop/run?
It's hard to know when a hen will resume laying after any type of trauma or even after molt for that matter. Every hen is a bit different.
