I have 2 br's, 2 slw's, and 1 Easter egg'er. There 2 weeks old, and I was woundering how long it will take them to go through a 50lb bag of chick starter/grower?

i'm going to take a wild guess and say 1 1/2 months...

I started with 3 at 4 weeks and just as the 50 # bag of starter/grower ran out I switched to Layena. I got my first egg about a week later.

So for me with 3 very wasteful birds it lasted about 15 weeks.

My 5 9wk old pullets went through 20# of crumbles in a month.
So your babies will probably take 3-4 months to get through that much feed.

*disclaimer*: I suck at math problems

I agree with foweler. I went through 2 25lb bags for 4 pullets, then switched just in time to layena.

Oh my goodness, I don't know. What I do know is that with 26 pullets and 5 ducklings that we got at 1 day old we have went through 100 lbs of feed in 1 month. Is this outrageous or customary?

10-15 weeks? Just feed for a month . THen put the rest in a moisture proof container and save it the rest for next year.

We got our 4 Barred Rock pullets in April....we're approaching the end of the 50# "baby food", and gradually mixing the rest with layer crumbles. They are doing very well.

We expect to be totally on layer feed come late August or early September.
