I have a production red who just started her second year of laying after a 4 month molting vacation. How long can I expect her to lay well? She is a champ laying 6-7 eggs a week. Big beautiful brown eggs.

Mine look like red sex links. Def not rirMy understanding of Production Reds, is that they are hatchery grade RIR. Sometimes Red sex Links, may be referred to that as well.
The RIR will lay for a long time but after about 3 or 4 years, the number of eggs will decrease. They still may lay some eggs at age 7 and 8, but not much them. The Red sex links lay profusely for about 3 to 4 years and then burn out. They don't live long.
