Hey so my quail are 9 days old starting to feather out nicely i have them in my warm kitchen how long minimum will they have to stay on heat they be staying indoors until at least 5 weeks
Thanks
Sam xx

once they're fully feathered unless you're in a cold area they should be good to go without the heat. I've seen people on here say 15 days. I typically shoot for 3 weeks.

In my opinion, until all baby feathers are gone, including the ones on the head. Also, gradually reduce temperature before taking away the heat lamp!

Okay make sure i do that thanks just wondered as having to rehome some because 33 hatched lol xx

LOL, I'm in almost the same boat, but I only have 14! I made another thread about the same issue (mine are 12 days old and flying!) The suggestion was to start turning down the heat a bit (standard is 5 degrees a week to room temp) but keep an eye on their behavior - if they are huddling together, they still need some heat.

Currently having to sort out a bigger brooder was trying to clean them.out earlier they all flying out evwrywhere window sill side had to find them all and do a count 😂😂😂 hubby thought be a good idea to get 48 fertilised eggs saying no more hen 15 would hatch...yeah rite nw have 33 crazy cute quails 😂😂😂

I keep mine on the heat lamp for three weeks then I let them play in the sun a little.
