One of my hens has been sitting on eggs for a few weeks. Finally on Friday I noticed she had a chick, just one though, and its Sunday now and still just the one chick. I looked at a couple of her eggs and they're not cracked or anything, just wondering how long does it take to hatch? Or if maybe only one hatched because its winter and the temperature hasn't been perfect. The coop is heated though, but temps outside have dropped to -25°C a couple of nights.

I wouldn't think the problem is ambient temperature. Usually the problem is eggs volunteered to the nest by other hens. Unless that is your only hen and she assembled the clutch before she started sitting.

Thanks, yes we have other hens and they did get in and lay eggs in her nest after she started sitting on them. We noticed that and then blocked her off from the other girls.

If she is still committed wait a couple of more days being it's a staggered hatch.
