Other countries eat all kind of stages of eggs. I.e. Balut

I have a silkie sitting on eggs. The others keep laying in her nest. I try collecting a couple times a day, but I’m not always home all day. Just wanted to make sure that if they were sat on all day, or night, they would still be good to eat, (with nothing growing, lol)

Why not set her up in a crate so the other hens can't lay in her nest?..I move mine to a Brooder when setting.

I tried, she squawked and carried on, pacing back and forth, as soon as I put her and the eggs back in the nest she calmed down and started sitting again.

I have moved every Broody Hen I've ever had without any problems...
That's too bad...

How long did you leave her to settle in the new place?
It can take a couple-few hours...up to a day.
I move them before I give them fertile eggs,
a truly broody bird will settle in pretty quick on fake eggs.

I would think 24 hours would be ok.

This was the first time I moved a broody. I had a dog crate set up for her, food, water, everything a princess needs. She turned from princess to demon. She was mad.
