How long should it take a chick to get out of the egg? I have one that has zipped all the way around and still isn't out.Thank you in advance for your reply.Take care.
I watched one for over a day, and finally decided to help it out. It was too dry. That little one has a wry neck and crooked feet. I am wishing I had helped it out sooner. It is eating and drinking, but must be pampered and is falling behind in growth. It was a Marans egg, very hard shelled, the last one to hatch on day 21. Good luck.
Should i help it out? I was always told not to help them.It started to hatch at 7:30am.It's 11:03am now.It looks like on good jolt and it would be out,but it;s still in there.
It's very dry here in the desert and 90+ degrees. I have 3 that have been trying to hatch for over 5 hours. Is that normal? One is nearly cracked around, but the others just have big holes. The membranes are dry and tough on the egg. Should I help them out? Maran eggs, very hard shells. Other 3 born yesterday had cooler temps and slightly higher humidity (it's about 10% relative humidity today).
If one zips all the way around it should be ready to come out. If they stay like that long it will result in crooked legs, toes and necks. I would definately open it up.
