How loud are baby chicks when in the brooder both day & night?

I agree you don’t really want them in your bedroom. Don’t underestimate how dusty they are. I keep mine in the spare room for the first 4 weeks. It’s not so bad the first few days but 1 week+ and the dust is thick within a day. Baby chicks make lots of sound but like the others said it’s not especially loud unless they’re unhappy! I have the comfort heat plate 40x40cm. You won’t be disappointed. Good luck.

Thank you Joeschooks, I am preparing a place in a room we do not use. I am so happy I asked this question here! Saved me lots of trouble I imagine. I have another question I asked in other old thread but maybe too old for someone to notice. Please tell me if it's not ok to ask it here. I have not only eggs in incubator but two broody bantams on my hands. Since it's pretty cold here (way below freezin for another month or so), I am taking them in a warmer place as well. This room I have for them isn't big so I was thinking of taking chicks from one of them and give all to another. They will hach in about the same time. One (friesian) has 7 eggs, other 4. I want my friesian bantam to have all chicks. Is it a good idea?

I looked for your other thread, couldn't find it, but see you are in Lithuania.
Are you measuring temps in C or F?
I had a broody successfully set in single and negative F's.

Bantams only have so much capacity, just like the heat plates.
I would think 7 would be about max for her to cover, both eggs and the chicks once they hatch. Might depend on if the eggs are bantam or large fowl.
A total of 11 plus the incubated eggs may be too much for her to keep warm.
Is she an experienced broody?
Have you ever grafted chicks to a broody?

We measure in celsius and it's going to be as cold as -20, and -10 at least for quite few nights, even some days. It's around zero farenghate more or less. My friesian would have only bantam chicks, 11 max if all of hers and other ones going to hatch. Chicks from incubator will be in another brooder under plate. Would you say that chick with hen could be ok in such cold temperatures? Water will freeze quickly... I will be keeping those under plate (from incubator) in warmer place for sure, but could do without hens if they and chicks would be ok in unheated place.

Forgot to ansver last questions. She's first time but quite determined. I candled few of her eggs and even to my unexperienced eye was easy to see thats things are happening. I am pretty sure I saw a chicks head moving, maybe even a wing flapping. They should hatch any day now. Not quite sure when she started cause I was hoping she will not carry on but it's around day 16. I am as new to all of this as she is. Second hen is first time too. It's pretty cold here and I was nearly sure they will stop or eggs get too cold while they take a break, but they all seem to have a mind of their own. So I want to do all I can not to let those chicks freeze to death.

They can keep the eggs warm enough to hatch in those temps.
How they react when they hatch is always good to observe,
some broodies set well but are lousy at taking care of the chicks.
I have no idea if your bird can keep 11 chicks warm or not,
if they all fit, and she's a good mama could work out great.

Did you put all fresh fertilized eggs under both broodies at the same time?
Did you keep any other birds from laying in the broodies nests?
If not, you may have a staggered hatch....that's another thing you may have to manage.
Were your incubator eggs started the same time the broodies started setting?

Giving chicks to a broody hen can be tricky.
Best of broody has been broody for a good couple weeks,
or broody might not accept them.
Chicks should be just hatched or no more than a day old,
or they might not want to stay under the broody.

It's a bit of a mess with my hens and incubator eggs here. I do not wory about incubator eggs cause they will be raised by me, not by hen. I do not see any bantam hen keeping up to 20 full size hens chicks under her. I see my problam with haching times. Second hen started to sit maybe 4 days later than first one so I guess I am stuck with two hens. I am pretty sure all egs under each hen is max 3 days appart. I put most of them myself, few are layed by broody hens themselfs. My only worry now is this: can hens with chicks live in a unheated place if temperatures are way below freezing (around 0 f° is expected)? I have a nice house for tools and stuff, it's build from bricks so no wind and it's facing south so it's a bit warmer. Would love to put hens there if chicks have a chance. I know it's not an easy question to ansver, but I am trying to get any idea how tough little chicks are.

Did you read my winter broody thread I linked above?
You can see the set up had, it helped I think.
They did fine in near zero F temps...but that cold wasn't constant.
I did have to change out water multiple times a day and offer soaked feed to ensure they would stay hydrated.

Thanks aart, it's a long thread, I'll read rest of it later, but I am starting to get the idea. I liked the 60w lamp idea for some wormth, this might work. At worst I'll put radiator near brooders on low settings. It's a safe place for that. Once more, thank you for all the help!
