How loud are hens?

I have six chickens that are supposed to be pullets and I was thinking of keeping them in my backyard. It is legal to keep hens in town here but not roosters. The neighbors are pretty close, so I hope they aren't going to be too loud. I also think one may be a rooster, so if it is I will give him away.

I think it really depends on the breed and personality of the hen. I had Wyandottes that did a soft cooing noise pretty constantly and a black sex link hen that didn't make any noise unless she was upset or felt like she was under attack. How many hens can you have? I don't think you should have a problem if it's only a few of them.

I am fairly sure I can have six hens, but one or two may be roosters. I might end up with 4 or 5 and I will give any roosters away.
