How loving are ducks???

They sell clickers at pet stores that help train other animals. You click it when they do something good and then reward with a treat. Google it and check it out, there's even videos on clicker training poultry.

And thank you

Soleil is an amazing ducky! What are your ducks names?

Jake, Finn, and TreeTrunks. They're the Adventure Ducks.
I thought you couldn't potty train a duck because it doesn't have a sphincter, and therefore no way to "hold" it.

Very nice duck! But good point about the imprinting...people have to always bear in mind the long-term commitment before doing something like this, because they can't expect an animal who has been raised like this to just be able to transition to a new owner if they decide they don't want it anymore. It is unfair to expect that of an animal. People imprinting and raising "house ducks" have to be prepared for a life commitment. It's important enough for animals who are generally raised as pets, but more so for animals like ducks who generally are expected to behave as something other than sociable pets and constant companions. So I am glad you put that disclaimer in there...it would be very easy for people to see your duck and say "I want one of those!" without putting the thought in ahead of time.

I tell everyone we meet who gets inspired to get a duck that and most shake their heads and say thanks but no thanks. Keeping ducks outdoors but having a house duck is work. Diapers and cleaning. Feathers all over the house! Biggest perk keeping her indoors- she's one of the cleanest ducks!

I'm glad I found this thread. About a week and a half ago Quack-Quack quit climbing up the bed and sleeping next to me. I got him when he was 2 days old and he was sleeping on me during the day and wanting to sleep with me early in the morning for a while but now it all just quit, he is now 4 and a half weeks old. He still follows me and doesn't like me to be out of sight for to long, he also lies down at my feet in the yard and in the livingroom at times. I'm concerned about the affection stopping. He barely wants me to pet him now and forget trying to hold him. Like I said, I got him at 2 days old so is this the difference between imprinting and bonding or did I maybe do something to push him away from wanting to cuddle anymore?

Many ducks go through this stage. One day, you are A number One, the next day, you are Terrifyingly Horrible. It's hormones, a stage they go through, it is probably healthy for a duck, and it takes weeks, and patience, and treats, and kindness from you, to get to the other side. Stay low, make sweet noises, offer treats but don't insist on touching the duck. My runners made it through, and so did I.
