This year I am going to do 3 batchs with the first batch doing 24 second batch 40 and the thrid and final batch 40 as well. I am splitting the costs with another person on these so I end up with half the chicken and they pay for 2/3 of everything as I do all the work and we split the work on processing day.

Just wondering as I it has not turned out to be that hard and I love the taste of them I procesed 2 early they ended up weighing 2 pounds 4 ounces and 2 pounds 6 ounces at 3.5 weeks old (after cleaning weight)

I bought 6 to begin with born Feb 17( my first meaties) and then 15 more 4 weeks later(from TSC).

So that really just counts as one batch, I think. I just received my second batch. I chose Red Rangers and White Rocks, White Orpingtons, and White Giants(am planning to caponize the white ones), because the Cornish Rocks often do not tolerate the heat. The Red Rangers are supposed to free range well.

I have several cockerels that are juveniles, so I will be processing them as well before they get started fighting with each other( about 16 weeks), even though I know that they will be smaller.

Three batches shouldn't be a problem....just be very mindful of the heat issues with the CX. That might not be a major problem where you live. The weather has turned pretty warm over the past couple of days here, so I have made sure that mine are confined to a shaded area....with their food and water in close proximity....they will always look for food....and have a fan overhead if need be(they are in our barn) Another poster today lost 5/8 of his birds due to heat.

I should have added that I am on week 4 on my first batch, my next batch will be started next week and my third batch will start at the end of september

I'm on week 3 of my first batch of 50. The second batch is ordered and arrives on processing day. Getting 25 in that batch and 70 more arrive the third week of August. Next year it'll probably be 3 batches of 70 each. That's about the capacity of my setup.

That's the real issue. How many can your land, surroundings and your labor support?
I did 3 last year. I started in March, #2 started in Aug and #3 started in Oct. I was tired of chickens by processing time came. And my tractor footprint was very visible throughout the property.
The 3rd batch was unplanned and free, couldn't say no. This year I am doing ONE!

Between six and seven. 388,000 at a time.

You, Sir, are indeed THE authority. I will address all my amateur questions directly to you from now on.

The capacity of your set up is important, but it's also vital to assess your storage capability! 25 birds is a lot to put in an average chest freezer, depending on what else you've got in there. Storing them can be quite the challenge and lead folks to do smaller, more frequent batches.
