Regarding mold???? You should always disinfect the unit after each hatch, cleaning it with a bleach/water solution, don't get electronics, fan, thermostat, heat element wet, wipe clean and rinse with damp rag using water only. It sounds she might be storing the unit in a high humidity area like a basement. It's not the unit... good luck, it will be all right....supply house also sell a disinfectant called Tex-trol...........Lastly, I would love to own a Dickey
