How many broodes do you currently have?

1 Black Australorp sitting on 4 eggs
1 silkie sitting on 10 eggs (only one is hers)

and 1 Pekin duck with 8 duck eggs under her

I have 1 silkie hen her 1st time on 3 turkey eggs.

I had 5 out of 5 go broody back in March, but one quit after I moved her inside..

3 hens hatched out... But it was cold here then so hatch rate was bad for 2 hens.. Turkey messed my little red hen up.

I took the chicks from the 1st 2 mommas and gave to the 3rd momma which made a total of 8..

Now one of the earlier Silver Pheonix has gone broody again and will be due on May 14..

I put 8 eggs under her..

Just finished with two simultaneous broodies, a Buff Orp and a Blue Orp. None are broody at this time, but I expect a couple to go over the edge soon. None of the three that were broody last year have gone broody this year yet.

I only had 2 bantam hens (cochin and japanese), both went broody, so we ordered chicks and they are both sitting on 7 each. I have 7 more in the brooder, I would like to add them under the hens, do you think they could manage more?

One GLW on 10 eggs - 6 blue/barred rocks, 4 blue rock/EE. I need advice on nesting material and getting the hen to eat - please see my long post called "Need advice on care of broody hen - first time doing this!" Thanks in advance for your guidance!
