How Many..? (Broody Hens)

You might consider a No Crow Collar which you can purchase from My Pet Chicken.

It acts like a dog collar around the rooster's neck preventing him from swelling up the pocket of skin at the base of his neck with air, like a bagpipe, which is what produces the volume.

With the collar, his crow comes out more of a muffled squeak.

It is important to monitor the rooster and check regularly to be sure the collar remains positioned correctly with no obstruction or irritation.

I have used one very successfully on my rooster for almost 4 years. You will need to replace when frayed or bunched.

Collars allow many roosters to lead happy and productive lives but quietly.

We've used the no crow collars before. We're getting a new one as we lost the 2 others we had.

Probably stupid questions but how will I know if Mr Frizz has actually bred our Silkie mix & Polish?
The Polish doesn't lay eggs that much anymore, probably not at all, but how will I know if our Silkie mix lays a fertile egg?

Unfortunately the best way to know isto crack the egg into a bowl and look four the blastoderm. Is the white spot in the yolk. Small and solid is unfertilized larger and bulleye shaped is fertile.
