Hi everyone I’m brand new to keep backyard chickens and was wondering how many hens could fit in the coop I built . The coop is about 5 1/2 Feet long and almost 3 feet wide. Thanks!

side note: I’m planing to keep heritage/standard size egg layers in here

Can you post some interior photos? Where do you live? Will they be in the coop all the time or will they be able to free range and/or be in a run?

Is the '3 feet wide' including those nesting boxes? If it is, it is big enough for about 3 birds at a tight squeeze, with food and water in the run. If the 3 feet wide does not include the nesting boxes, four birds will fit, with food and water in the run. Keep in mind that you should have at least 4 linear feet of roost space for the four birds.

How much height is there inside?
I guess the coop is big enough for 4 - 8 bantams , depending on the size.
But imo the chickens really need a safe outside sheltered space attached to this coop where they can go after sunrise ( open or automatic pop door) and a larger pen or free range possibilities.

Probably 3 max.
Good questions above about ventilation, etc.

Oh, and .... Welcome to BYC! @Orpington-Lover
