How many chickens can I have in Phoenix?

You'll need to check the local ordinances online- google city ordinances Phoenix.

Ready?:

20 hens in an enclosed coop or run.

No roos. (I know, I'm an outlaw but there is an entire neighborhood to the south of me that has "heritage Phoenix" free range chickens.

(Written) Permission from any neighbor whose home is within 80 feet of the coop.

My neighbor that's within 80 feet gets 18 eggs about every five days. (and his wife makes cookies with them and gives them to us with the empty cartons)

YES, ALL. There is only ONE exception I know of and that is the area between 32nd Street and 36th Street and between Thomas and Osborn... There many hundreds of chickens, guineas and peacocks there that roam free and the entire neighborhood takes care of them.

Rumor has it that the city passed an ordinance that the chickens could not be caught for eating. It seems that there were some "illegals" and perhaps others who frequented the neighborhood doing their "grocery shopping" there....

Drive down Flower Street there some morning and you'll be amazed.
