How many chickens do you own?

8 ducks
over 100 chickens
chicks due July 7th
eggs in the incubator
a few turkeys heading this way within the next 2 days

and a foul mouthed spoiled rotten Congo African Grey .. who can do the baby chick talk, grumble like an old hen.. and announce to the world that he just laid an egg like the young girls

4 here - 1 went broody recently so i got some eggs to stick under her. Of the original 13, 11 have survived this long - looking at a July 3 hatch date. So who knows how many we'll end up with next week. One thing is for sure....of the 11 that hatch I'm only keeping 2 (maybe 3 pullets) and possibly a cockerel. So whatever we get over and above that I'll be looking find homes for. Western NC here....so if anybody is looking for some BR and/or RIR chicks letl me know. Free chicks here!!!!!

I started with 10 adorable chicks.....then down to 6 after I got rid of the roos...... then I moved to three acres. Now have the original 6 plus 2 new hens and an old english roo ( new ordinance where I live) 8 3 mo. silkies and 2 EE chicks and 3 guinea fowl to keep the buggies away. Be careful they are very addictive. built a new run and coop when I moved. My friends call me the crazy chicken lady but I love them all so much!!! Almost more than the dogs. Shhhhhh don't tell!

I'm a first time chicken owner and only wanted about 10 hens but then I found McMurray's website and loved several different breeds and since they don't ship less than 25, I ordered 26 and got all the breeds I wanted. Then during the 2 month wait for all my breeds to be ready, I saw on the website their silver leghorns and wanted some of them too. And they just happened to have some pullets available for my ship date so I added 10 silver leghorns on to my order. I also asked for the free exotic chick and they also sent two extras so I ended up with 39 chicks. Chicken math hit me hard on my first order

but they are such fun.
