2 - Bantams, Old English with one being the Roo
4 - Isa Browns
3 - Buff Orphingtons
3 - Black Somethings: Sussex, Sex Links, I can't remember. I will find out one of these days!
We planned for 6 and told the neighborhood committee that number. We had 5 lovely hens, added 2 babies ( although not certain yet at 18 weeks if both pullets) and one silkie. Silkie was taken by a coon and was replaced with 2 silkies... chicken math at its best... so we are at 9 gals!
Let's see I have 12 Black Jersey Giants (11 hens+1 roo), 7 Buff Orphington (5 hens+2 roos), 4 Buff Braham Bantam (2 hen+2 roos), 19 juveniles (8 BO+11 JG),13 JG toddlers, and 6 pekin ducks. Oh and 3 of my JG hens are broody setting on 9 eggs each. One BO hen hatched 6 this past 6/28/11. So that gives me a total of 61.
My son's show JG and BO and the BBB at our local 4-H shows. WE just love this family hobbie! Our local fair is in 3 weeks can"t wait!!
Currently, I have a laying flock of 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Black Ameraucana/EE, 3 mixed hens, and 1 mixed rooster.
My bantam flock consists of 2 Old English Game hens (a spangled and a black - the black one is questionable; her legs have a yellow tint, and she's fatter than OEGBs usually are, so she may actually be some other type of bantam), 1 lavender Cochin hen, 1 black-tailed red Old English Game Bantam rooster, and 2 youngsters (1 black OEGB pullet and 1 black OEGB x Cochin cockerel).
We have 1 mixed bachelor rooster.
Add in 1 broody hen and her 1 chick (unknown gender).
Finally, add in my hatchery chicks (5-weeks old): 8 Gold Brabanters (supposed to be 7 pullets and a cockerel), 7 Barred Rock "packing peanuts" (6 cockerels and 1 pullet), and 2 Quail Old English Game Bantams (1 pullet and 1 cockerel).
That brings my current total up to 33!
However, all of the Barred Rocks except for the pullet and maybe one of the cockerels (I really want to keep a pair, and there's a light/grayish barred cockerel that I really like) will not be staying. I am also trying to rehome the bachelor rooster and maybe the black OEGB x Cochin bantam cockerel; I'd like to keep him to breed back to his mother next year, but he will most likely need to be kept in a separate enclosure as I doubt my OEGB rooster will take too kindly to him when the new little guy's hormones start going.
Then, I am expecting to receive 12 Lemon Blue Cochin (large fowl) chicks from Bishop's Chickens in a month or so, and since they're straight run, I probably won't be keeping all of them either, so the numbers are bound to go up and down for the next several months at least.
