How many chickens? MATH TIME

My coop house is 5 feet× 5feet i currently house 5 chickens in there who all sleep on the one roost. I have 2. 5 foot long roost on the same level. The run is 10feet ×5 feet. In the coming weeks we are adding a 1 foot long tunnel connecting it to another 10foot× 5 foot run. No additional housing space will be added. I currently have 4 nest boxes. How many chickens can be added to the flock?

None. Yours is perfect for five hens without free ranging.

If you want to add more hens, you should add more housing space.

Once you add more there can be social tensions. The newbies vs the elders. I have 11 chickens in 45 sq. ft. coop, and 1000 sq. ft. run, this should be okay, but there are 3 age groups ( I added new chicks each year.) Now it's a total soap opera every day. I am taking some to the poultry swap. You may want to just appreciate the current chicken harmony.

I would not add birds to that size space.

The coop is 25 sq feet. Math says 6....BUT if feed or water is kept inside then just 5 fit.

It is best to never add a lone bird as they are heavily targeted and suffer from it.

Food and water is kept in the run. It is a covered run. The 5×5 coop house has roost bars and a window with adjustable ventilation. The only time chickens go in there is to hop on the roost and sleep at night.

plan on adding half to full size more if you want more birds just think of yours not others
