If there are 3 roost 4 ft wide how many chickens as banties ( standred chickens 2X Banti.) The other half of the coop is nest box. They have an huge run outside.

Figure 12 inches of roost width per bird (I use this number for bantams, too). They won't actually use all this space once they get settled down at night, but it allows enough room for the jostling that goes on before they do get settled.

LOL! I have same space as OP, and all sixteen birds roost on top two...

I have basically that setup in my coop plus a ladder and about a 6 foot 2x4 on the other wall, and I have 20 full size birds and probably 20 7-10 week old birds that use the space and the main 12 feet of space is bare. The babies huddle near the feeder and the big birds fill the long board. Prolly need to close up some ventilation since the water is freezing..... Don't be aghast folks, they still come running to daddy with the feed pail!

Thanks Its just chickens are addicting and I have a rir roo 1 silkie roo, 3 hens, and 2 chicks that will grow to add on 2, and I KNOW I have to get at least 2 full sized hens. And maby another bantie,... Wich way do you put the roost flat or vertical ?

Not sure I understand your question. My roosts are horizontal. They are 2x4's big side the hens stand on. I also have a ladder from the old coop standing against the wall that they seem to like. Think of it like this. They are birds, have stayed out all night, roost in trees. They can be almost vertical, horizontal, flat, round.....

Although..... I must say I have never seen any bird other than a woodpecker, vertical on a tree, and they haven't been roosting at that time.

I have 4 large breed hens on a 4' roost. There's plenty of room for more (maybe twice as many) because they all snuggle together once they get settled on the roost.
