In the Brooder
Oh yes! There's always that possibility, isn't there.Losses depend on so many things...not just shipping. I would throw an extra one in just for the fact one may end up being a rooster.

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping for. I got a little freaked out at the thought that more than half of them may die based on what others have said! They will have a 3.5 hour drive home from the hatchery with me, but I will have heat packs in their box and will keep the car warm. I'll have their brooder all set and ready for them at home so that it's warm and has water and food ready. The hatchery I plan to get them from hatches Monday, and then allows for pick up either Monday or Tuesday, but I'll be there Monday right at the time they say you can come, to minimize time they're sitting aroundI've bought locally hatched every time and zero losses of chicks. Shipping is hard on them.
