How many chickens will fit? 8?

I think that I will probably go with 8, unless I can push for adding another foot on the end of the run, in which case I'd do 9.

My evil plans for breeds:
-1 white leghorn (adult that I currently have)
-1-3 Red Sex Links (that i currently have)
-1 silver laced cochin
-1 black copper marans
-1 easter egger
-1 bbs silkie
-1 barred rock (if 9)
Runner ups (if depending on how many RSLs I keep)
-Speckled Sussex
-Black Australorp
-Cream Legbar
-Olive Egger

My friends have all had good success with it, and it offers the breeds I want, so I'm going to go for it. They also have excellent customer service. The lower minimums is the main driving factor, though. I'm just going to go with it.

I am totally NOT dissing them. They have a great reputation and live delivery rate.
Just wanting you to know they may not come from as close as you hope.

Given your space and breed choices, leave the Silkie out of your plans! Your other choices will all be much more compatible!

Shoot. I was really excited to get a silkie. What if I were to have more space and more than one silkie? I'm trying to figure out a way to get more space for the coop....

What are you using in your run? Sand, deep litter, dirt... Depending upon what you use and how elevated your coop is(mine is almost 2 1/2 feet above the run), you can use a stall fork with 1/4" hardware cloth zip tied to the tines to clean under the coop. It is a lot better than trying to crawl under😁

Deep litter/dirt/mulch...basically that woodsy stuff that's part dirt, part leaf bits, bits of twigs, etc.

I would really love to have a silkie (or more than one) because they are just so cute and fluffy and I love them. Do you think that increasing the space or number of silkies could help? I actually just told my friend today (she desperately wants one but her parents won't get more chickens) that I was planning on getting one and she was so excited.

If I were to find a standard size silkie would that work out differently? (I do actually know where to get one)
