How many chickens will fit in this coop & run?

I 100% relate to that! Never thought I’d be so attached to these ladies but I already love them so so much! Love those names and those breeds are beautiful!
Congrats on getting your first egg!!! Dare I say the cheesiest pun EGG-citing! Let me know how it tastes haha I’ve heard they taste amazing when fresh.
I live in Delaware County, Springfield, PA and there’s not a lot of folks with chickens around but my neighbors so far are being great sports about it and are excited so I can’t wait to bribe them further with eggs haha
Hahaha me too.. im in Prospect Park and I will have to bribe the borough with eggs if anyone complains. I did gwt the OK from neighbors before this venture, so we will see. My daughter loves these girls too... so we will relocate and rehome the fam before we consider rehoming the chicks

Whoa so close!
I did the same with the neighbors and called the township more than once just to make sure lol
Same here with the family being on board. These babies aren’t going anywhere!
I hope your ladies continue to be healthy and happy and give bountiful delicious eggs your way!
Maybe we can do an egg exchange one day and you’re more than welcomed to come cuddle the buff when she’s bigger, if she’s as friendly as I’ve been told they get haha.

I love that idea. Id definitely be down ro meet up w a local chicken mom. I found even our most standoffish girl, (Ninja) is friendly, once you spend enough time with them. Checker joins me for coffee in the morning and even tries to help me with work and send an email here and there. Theyre too funny. They all come running as soon as i step foot outside. Also i found theyre fascinated by RED, I have a red bucket & they chased me down, pecked it out of my hand, jumped on it & played with it for 30+ mins. Same w a red coffee canister. Maybe yours can be entertained with red things too 🤔

They are GORGEOUS! Oh my goodness.
Well we shall definitely keep in touch! Plus you never know when you have a chicken emergency and need some emergency food, bedding, etc! Feel free to reach out!
And I recently posted something very similar with my Hoagie who seems to always fly on my shoulder whenever I’m working. Zoom meetings are always oh so interesting when they’re around.
So far my ladies seem friendly for the most part and I’m hopeful it stays that way! I’ll keep bribing them with food and snacks for love lol
And thank you for the red tip! I’ll definitely look into it, I recently started looking for things to keep them entertained in the run!

My Australorps are fairly early layers. I don't know if the Blues differ from the blacks in this.

Here's my thread for Australorp fans. :D
I’ll keep my fingers crossed! Although at this point I feel like it won’t make much of a difference since they’ll all probably lay until spring time of next year since they’re only 4 weeks old and WINTER IS COMING. Lol

Would you mind reattaching your thread? It’s not popping up for me unfortunately.

So i had the same thoughts about things to occupy them. I got these and all 3 of them love them. The mirrors & bells especially https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08L6FT4DD?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
Also thinking of getting a colorful xylophone

My internet kept cutting out last night so I guess the link didn't attach. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...ps-because-medium-doesnt-mean-boring.1547066/

I personally don't find that chickens play with toys the way parrots do.

They need space and facilities to engage in natural chicken behaviors: Perching, Scratching, Dustbathing, Sunbathing, etc.

One of the very best "boredom busters" I've ever found is a straw bale with one tie cut.

Thank you for this information!
I did get them some items to perch and a swing. Haha we’ll see how those go.
I love watching them just flop and sunbathe and dustbath. They look so happy when they do it.
