How many chickens?

I was thinking maybe one across the 6ft and one across the 3ft.

How tall will the coop be? Most of the birds will try and get to the higher roost if there is one so I would suggest having the higher one be the 6' if you are planning on having multi levels. I think 6 chickens would be perfect for a coop like that. That will also feed your family eggs for days.

6x8 for 7 with additional run space would likely be ok, but think ahead... Chicken math. I have 7 spring chickens this year, likely no changes next year but the following spring I will bring in more chicks and cull some in the fall so there will be 12ish for a while. And if my daughters insist on retirement plans for the non layers then it just grows from there. Make it twice as big, put in twice as much ventilation as you think it needs and figure it will cost twice as much and take twice as long. Bigger is better.

Good luck

There'll never be more than the 6 or 7, there's a chicken sanctuary type of thing nearby who I contacted, they said they'd take any chickens in so any that stopped producing I'd take there and replace when needed.
