How many chickens

i started with 6 red sex links for a couple of years, lost 4 to predators. got 6 different breeds to replace the 4( see my math is off already). one of those turned out to be a rooster. a hen went broody so we let her set on 8 eggs, thinking not all would hatch. wrong! got 4 pullets and 4 cockerels out of that hatch, culled the roosters. another broody who hatched 2 eggs, went to atwoods and got 4 more chicks to keep them company. total at present is 14. somebody stop me!:th
CMA- chicken math anonymous. We offer support but, unfortunately, we have not found a cure. 😜

I started with COVID chickens as well. Went for 4 EE, came home with 5. Was supposed to get 4 australorp a month later but the lady had an incubator failure and lost all her hatch. So we just have 4 now - 2 we’re Roos so we rehomed one to my niece. Our coop actually is better suited for only the 4 so it all worked out. BUT hubby is going to build me a bigger coop eventually and HE jokes about having 30-50 chickens so I’ve got the green light to go chicken crazy! Lol
And he wants ducks so he has no argument anyways. Good luck convincing your hubby to allow more.

Started with 2 that were dumped about 11 years ago. Now have 27 - 25 hens and 2 roo's, number varies between 24 and 30. Too many is when you can't house them or care for them properly, or when it's not fun anymore. For me, if I had a bigger coop, I would have more. Lobbying for a bigger coop now, we shall see! :fl

I started with five (3 hens, 2 roos), then that grew to 13 (11 hens, 2 roos) the next summer. Then I got an incubator this spring and now I have 3 wheaten ameraucanas (2 pullets, 1 cockerel), 2 black copper marans (1 pullet, 1 cockerel), 4 salmon faverolles (all pullets), 1 silkie hen, 1 cochin-silkie cross pullet, 2 cochin-brown layer cross hens, and 12 cochins (10 hens and 2 roos). 25 chickens 🤣 oh, and we just got three muscovies. And a new larger coop I just finished building.... Chicken math is real!!!!
