I know we have a number of breeders on here.

I thought it would be interesting to find out with even an estimate...

How many chicks do you hatch out each year?

right now if my hatch goes well by Thursday-I will have hatched out 45 so far but laready have eggs coming for the next batch 50+? more then and after that one another big batch of my own silkies and olive eggers..Ill stop hatching when Im whipped and run out of room:-)

Your poll is good, but you should have entered some higher numbers. Just at the schools where I have incubators, I hatch out about 3000 chicks each year. Then there is 4H, FFA, the grand kids and their friends,
some local kids and finally my breeding stock. Yup, slowed down in my old age, this year I figure to do only about 7500. Heck, 30 years ago, I was doing more than that a week. And I know of a few here that are doing that and more per year.

Where are all you hatchers, wake up, the bator is spiking and the chicks are pipping?

Hi!
I hatched waaay over 100 chicks last year. I couldn't say how many for sure because I don't keep records of what hatches each week.
Spring/Summer '08, I hatched over 100 ducklings, but not quite so many last summer (duck burn-out).
Hahaha! I don't hatch as many as I wish I had incubator space to hatch (and I have 4 LG's and a Hovabator)!

I guess most of you that hatch enormous numbers are selling your chicks to local people? How did you get the sales for them?I would assume craigslist would be a big part of it.

For the most part I take them to our local poultry auction. I could get more money for them by individual, private sales, but I don't want to have to mess with making arrangements to meet people somewhere.
