How many chicks?

I got 33 last Monday from McMurray and they are all doing great. Although they are growing a little faster than I thought they would. I had planned to keep them in my basement ( in a homemade brooder ) until they feathered out but now I'm not so sure. I live in GA and our weather is starting to get nice, still cool at night. I think later this week I'm going to move them to their coop with a light for warmth. They will have a ton of room and can start getting used to their new home.

started march 5 with 6 and it's now april 12 and i have 30 with 4 more on the way in may and if i can find a couple of japanese banty chicks it will be more and if my hubby's boss decided to go with chicks instead of grown hens i'll be foster mom to prob 10

We were going to start with 8, but min order was 25, so.... first batch 17 died from shipping so they are reshipping another 25, so up to 33 (if they all make it).

I have been SO impatient today waiting for our chicks that several times I had to stop myself from leaving to go to TSC to buy a few to tide me over til the others get there tomorrow, lol. And last night I had a dream that I was in TSC and they had silkies and ameruacanas that i had to get...

We were only going to have 2. Then I realized that would be only like 2 eggs/day and I have a 5 person family with extended family who really, really want to eat eggs. lol So, we ended up with 9 BUT I think 2 of mine are roosters so naturally, to replace them, I'm going to need 4 more. It makes sense, doesn't it? Why are you shaking your head 'no'? lol

We started with 16 and lost one. They are 4 weeks or so now and will be heading to the coop/run soon. I ordered 6 more yesterday, 3 silkies and 3 dominiques. So, in the end, we'll have 21 (if no one else kicks the bucket).

i had 12. When I finished my coop my neighbors gave me a rooster and 2 hens with proceeded to terrorize the younger pullets until one day.. the rooster realized he had 12 new ladies to lather his affection on and immediately the two older hens got a break.
