I raised 26 Cornish X in a 12 x 11 horse stall last summer. It worked fine, but I won't do it again if I can help it. The smell is STRONG and keeping the stall clean and dry was a challenge.
When they were feathered out I let them out all day in a paddock area and when they were about 5 weeks old, I started shutting them in my chicken coop at night. The coop is 6 x 6 and too small, but I wanted that SMELL out of my barn!
We butchered them ourselves, my husb, son and me. Hubby says never again to the butchering, but I think I can talk him into it one more time.
This year we want to do at least 50, maybe even a 100! Guess we'll be building some tractors soon enough!
I just don't know where I'll put them at night?
