How many Coturnix could live comfortably in this size enclosure?

I haven't finished building it yet, still need to weatherproof, raise, and put the hardware cloth on. BUT, The "open" area of the enclosure is 6' long, 23" high, by 29" wide. The shelter is attached at the side and is about 32" long and 20" wide. It's 23"-25" tall, with shelves/hides and etc.

How many could live in there without being overcrowded?

they say about 1 sq foot per bird. they do not need much room. unless you want them to have it. how many are you getting? it should be good for about 30 bird or so.

30 is a bit much...correct me if i am wrong but that enclosure is abt 18 sq ft so I would do 15 birds

Waterfowl's correct on this one. I wouldn't run more than 15 or so. I have 12 in the same size cage and I have to clean the floor every third day they poop so much.

I hadn't decided on how many, Victor. Because I wasn't sure how many would actually be comfortable in that area.

I don't think I included it, but the 6' open area has a hardware cloth bottom for the most part, so hopefully not a heck of a lot of poop will be getting stuck in it.

The shelter area, on the other hand, will have bedding that I intend on changing often. I have a fairly large mischief of rats so I'm quite used to maintaining and cleaning daily, and quail cannot be worse that a group of male rats. lol
