Hello
I have an olive egged who will be 2 years old on May 3rd. She has laid 8 days in a row for sure that I started counting but I’m pretty sure it’s been longer. She did not do this last year. She always took a day off about every 5/6 days. Should I worry. She acts normal and looks good. Still sweet comes to me to get stroked if I go into nesting boxes. Nothing has changed other than the continual laying. Is this dangerous for her. My vet passed away from covid so should I call his partner? My girls are more than just egg layers. They are family. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As long as she is eating and drinking and appears normal, I see no problem. I'll bet she is just so happy that it's spring.

The world record for a hen laying eggs is 671 in 364 days. The world record for number of eggs laid in one day is 7. The record for laying on successive days is 448 days in a row.

Don't worry about your hen. She is fine.

Thank you. She is still laying daily. I'm sure its been well over two weeks but I officially started counted 10 days ago yesterday. You put my fears to rest. Robin and my black sex linked Loki are my first two chickens and they are the most sweet birds. My other three, Lacy-silver wyandotte, Lilly-barred rock, and Nahla-bard rock are a little more timid and will be 2 this September. They'll come up to take treats but only Robin and Loki can be petted and snuggled. I just want to do the best for them but with this Covid I don't want to run to the vet if I don't have to especially since everything is curbside and they take your baby and you sit in the car. So I really appreciate you advice.
