I know the general rule is 7 days on eggs. A wild hen will lay for 2 weeks before sitting does anyone else keep eggs that long before incubating and notice any hatching effects? Just wondering I’ve always went by the 7 day rule but can set more eggs at once being able to wait.

I normally collect eggs for 14 days before incubating. The general rule is 7 to 10 days.

They can be kept for up to 28 days with the proper storage technique which includes storing them pointy side up and no turning in a carton inside of a plastic bag in a cool, humid area.

One person I know stores her eggs inside a cooler.

Why do they store them pointy side up and not down does that help save the air cell or something?
