I can never decide on which breed I want in my flock, so the best thing for me was to have several breeds.

Out of 11 chickens I have 9 breeds!

2 EE's
2 Brahma's, 1 light 1 dark
RIR
GLW
Salmon Faverolle
Speckled Sussex
Mille Fleur D'uccle
Frizze Cochin
Cuckoo Maran

I have:

4 silkies
1 sizzle
1 RIR
7 Barred rocks
4 cochins (standard)
1 polish
5 EEs
2 Houdans
4 Mutts
1 Production Red
1 Delaware
1 Buff Orpington
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte
1 Muscovy duck
2 Khaki Campbell ducks

So out of 36 I have 14 different breeds & a few mutts.

I have included my 15 chicks in the count :p

By the end of the day, four breeds:

4 production reds
3 Orps, 2 buff,one blue
2 silkies, blue
2 salmon faverolles

Adding when my order comes in july:

1 RLB wyandotte
1 silver gray dorking
1 blue splash marans
1 jersey giant
1 EE
1 partridge cochin
1 light brahma
1 barnevelder
1 spleckled sussex
1 barred rock

!!!

I am the same way! I want different types of breeds. We started out with 4 production reds, just for the amount of eggs they lay. Then we ended up with 3 French Black Copper Marans, and 2 silkies. I really want more silkies, they are the sweetest chickens I have ever had!
Then I have 6 guinea keets, and 12 pharoh, couturnix, a&m Quail.
I had 10 bobwhite, but did not realize how wild and crazy those are, and I did not have the proper set-up for them, so thank fully I sold them yesterday to a guy that has a flight pen! Those things were stressfull!!! lol

My DH calls it The United Nations of Chickens - I have pictures at my blog: http://allmychickens.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/current-flock-april-2012/

37 chickens

1 Black (BBS) Orpington roo (Jack)
1 Splash Orpington roo (Reuben)
1 red silkie roo (Romeo)
4 Buff Brahma cockerels, 2 pullets (the boys are collectively Buster and Chloe and Zoey)
1 dark Brahma pullet (Angel)
1 partridge Brahma pullet (Shirley)
2 Australorps - 1 hen, 1 cockerel (Mathilda and the boy)
2 "olive egger" (EExMaran) cockerels (Jake and Elwood)
1 "special" black star (MaranxDominique) pullet (Belle)
2 Freedom Ranger hens (thought to breed my own, but that doesn't work - Frances and Flappy)
3 Buff Orpington hens (Buffy, Goldie and Patience)
4 RIR hens (Esme, Githa, Agnes and Magrat)
5 Barred rock hens (Sault and the ladies)
1 blue x buff Orpington pullet (Baby Chicken)
1 Dutch Bantam hen (Lucy)
1 black orpington x SL Wyandotte hen (Rose)
1 Dominque pullet (JujuBee)
3 EE hens (Prissy, Gracie and Willow)

I lost my Blue Orpington hen yesterday. I need a local-ish source of BBS Orpington chicks. I want them so very badly, and hatching eggs are only giving me 3 chicks at a time. I'd like 10 or so chicks - and they could be the full BBS spectrum. I'd even go with Lavenders.

My first pullet chick was hit by a hawk, the second by the neighbor dog and Precious, I believe, had a lingering injury from the dog attack. Nothing I could see, but she just seemed off since the attack and nothing seemed to change that.

ETA: 25 meatie cockerels, 3 Embden White goslings, 4 Red Bourbon turkey poults and 3 chocolate turkey poults to be joining us. Also some Welsummer and Maran chicks.
