We are also a family of 5 and went with 6 after debating 3 or 4

I figure 1 extra won't be too much to feed and since dh is building the coop with free wood the extra space isn't a problem. I also bought a dog kennel 10x10x6 off craigslist for $85 to use as the run. It fits perfectly in the spot we have.
