We have a coop that is 5w x 10L x 6h with a run of 10x20 currently have 2 roos and 4 hens 5 bantam hens and 4 not yet full grown guinea they do not free range but only half of our run is covered no one escapes tho my daughter seems to try and buy every chicken she finds and I'm always saying no I don't really go by the numbers I just make sure they are comfortable and happy but wandering how many chickens does everyone have and the sizes of run and coops they have when is too many chickens with this size living space

I have almost exactly the same dimensions and used to think 20 would be my limit for space but now that I have 8 (4 from last year and 4 that are almost 4 mos. old) and 2 of those are Brahmas I am thinking 12 would be my space limit. I let mine free range a couple times a week but if they are all in the run they already are taking a lot of the run with just 8 of them. I have plenty of roost space but when it is wet or snowy they will all be under the cover of the run and that will be crowded. I have a lot of roost area in the run since the compost bins are in there but am going to add a big roost under the cover to help some.

You have 50 square feet of coop space and 200 square feet of run - is any of the run covered? Are your feed and water stations inside the coop or out in the run? If I am counting right you have a total of 15 birds? Do your birds spend most of their time confined in the coop and run or are they out free-ranging? How long have you had the birds in this enclosure - you mention some are not yet grown, so that would seem to indicate that the group has not been housed together for too long.

our guinea keets are the only new edition we have they have been in a separate pen until big enough to mix with the chickens they are only 6 weeks as of now so we only have half of the run covered so when they are out they are able to get back in as they please their feed and water are in the run under the roof we don't lock ours up they can go in and out of coop whenever
