I used to could type and words made sense. Sorry about that.I am in Canada. I did not notice my Muscovy molt. It would be her first molt since I got her in the spring. My other duck molted. I do not see anything wrong with my Muscovy's preen gland. I give her, and all my birds, mealworms as treats. She has never been into bathing or preening. My chickens have mites, so she probably would too, but I don't think that's the problem because my other duck is fine. I think it is more a lack of preening with her oil gland for some reason. I washed her and blow dried her, but it did not encourage her to preen properly.
It's amazing your Scovy is still laying that far north and your temps have to be much more extreme than mine. My Muscovy aren't big on bathing either not like my other breeds of ducks.
If she is shivering she should be kept out of wind and rain and snow since that is a sign she is cold. My Muscovy won't even come out of their coop when we get down into low to mid 20's. They could their pop door is open but again my girls are old 13 and 14 yrs old.
