I have only done bantam broodys thus far and was wondering if Queenie will also do just about 8 full size eggs or if I will be able to get quite a few more under her. Anyone had experience with this breed brooding?

I bet you could get more than 8 under a BO - they are big ole fluffy butted chickens! I'd think you could get at least 10-12.

One of my BO gals sat on 14 B.O. eggs and hatched them all.
I thought she was pushing the limits...lol... but she did it.
Happy hatching.

I guess I will see how many 'fit' and just put any extras in the 'bator! It is so much easier having them under a hen I must say, last time I candled at 7 days and put the extras in to replace the ones that didn't make it, shipped eggs

I'll do the same with her.

That would epend a lot on the size of the eggs-as many as she can comfortably cover. I currently have aRhode Island Red Bantam hen setting on 14 OEGB eggs.

funny that you ask this I just came in from egg gathering and found out I have a broody BO thank goodness I made an agreement about chicks for the rest of the year but hubbie will not make me break a broody so ........................her chickie chickie

My broodie is on 10 now but there were 12( I took 2 not fertiles out)

We give our BO girls about 14 eggs when they sit. They can easily handle that many.
