I'm a newbie-I just purchased a hovabator 1602N with the egg turner-They say it fits 40 chicken eggs without the turner in it-I can't find how many it fits with the turner in it-anyone before I order my very first batch of hatching eggs? I don't want to buy too many and not be able to incubate them..

ok please excuse me for sounding dumb but how can it fit 41 if it says it only holds 40 without the turner? DO you have the same one?

yes mine holds 41 to 42 eggs in the turner. There are 6 rows of 7 holes in it. I save one hole for the thermometer/hydrometer. I have the 1602N. Without the turner you could fit more than that if needed.

I am not sure why it would say it holds 40 without the turner?? That doesn't make sense ???

I just looked in mine again and counted the holes in the turner for you.

I also checked the label on it again (OCD

) in case I was mistaken and I definately have the HOVA_BATOR 1602N with the turner made for it.

you have me laughing -lol/......

I just looked on the GQF Manufac. site and it doesn't specify the number of eggs on there. But trust me I counted the holes.

I'm sure you could fit more that 40 or so without the turner but then they are so crowded they have nowhere to move and they are hopping over and on other eggs.

You're too excited about those eggs! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Remember- without the turner, the eggs are on their sides and take up more room each. In the turner they are semi-upright, so the space equals out. What model is the turner? I have the 1611 turner, it holds 42 eggs.

Good luck! I started with a "test hatch" of eighteen eggs, so I got a feel for it- 17 hatched!!!!!

Be sure you have room for all the chickens before you hatch!
