How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

It actually turns out we had our first 100% day yesterday! My son told me today that he had gotten 2 eggs when he came to pick up his dog from my house yesterday!
Today we only had 7 eggs, but that could be due to the fact that we were doing some fine tuning to our run entrance door.
It's all good!

5/7 today, whew!! was getting concerned the girls would never take a break!, I can't remember the last day Frankie, Francine, or Betty have taken a day off

these chickens are good layers!!!! I switched from countrywise pelleted feed to layena crumbles(it was on sale) and they are munching and loving the crumbles. Seem to snarf the stuff up like crazy! It could be the cooler weather too? They're liking the pumpkin every day and for $.64 I get a pretty good size one that lasts all week for chicken treats.....

Is the Layena feed organic? I'm tired of the waste in the Countryside.

No it's just Purina brand vrs Nutrena, I don't feed organic food because the stuff they sell here looks powdery and old. The Layena feed seemed much fresher even though the dates were recent on the country side bags. The girls seem to prefer the crumbles over the pellets so I'm gonna go with it for a bit.

How do you prep the pumpkin for the hens? I know they like the seeds but will they eat the flesh and all? We were clearing out our garden and any and all grape tomatoes that were on the ground are now eaten up by the girls. Some of our girls got a big treat yesterday by helping in the garden, we had to contain them away from the brussel sprouts though.

slice it in 6ths and give them a chunk to peck, after about two hours there is very little but skin left!, or i have also cooked it and fed it mixed with yougurt and pellets
