How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

0/12

No more little brown eggs yet. One of the Anconas (Uwe) was singing the Egg Song while I was down working on a chicken door in the barn door. I knew where she had just been but found no egg. She sang again later but again no egg. I put her in the nest box and she stayed awhile, came out singing her head off, but no egg. She went back in the nest box on her own a couple more times, singing when she came out, but nothing in the box. I'm guessing it will be tomorrow. At least I know SHE knows where the eggs are supposed to go. Hopefully she will tell the other girls.

7 out of 9, including our largest egg to date at 60 grams! OK, I know it is only in the "large" egg classification but it is cool to see the eggs slowly getting larger.

As for DLS time, the girls had no problem but someone forgot to reset our 13 year old cat. It is bad enough for him to meow outside the bedroom door at 5:30 AM each morning for breakfast but today it was at 4:30 AM!

Got my first blue egg yesterday from my favorite chicken, Ameraucana Falcon. She's currently my only colored egg hen but her egg is so pretty! I'll definitely be getting more.

0/12 Monday.

I think Uwe is just a tease. Sang a bunch on Sunday but no egg. I was splitting wood all day yesterday so if she was singing I didn't hear it and no egg in the box when they went to roost. I looked around the general area just in case she or Clemence left one out in the coop or run or outside the barn door but didn't see any. It was pretty cold and gray and windy so they didn't wander further than between the barns. I didn't have time to look real well though, it gets dark at 4:30 now.

Like the idiot that I am, I've been giving away the extra ... of which there are PLENTY! Right now, I'm just happy that people have been donating pumpkins to supplement their food, and egg cartons. So, I give them eggs in return.

Now that everyone is getting hooked, maybe I'll sell them when production is in full swing. Do you give them organic feed, and how much to you charge per dozen?
Yes they are on organic feed and I charge $3.50 to $4.00 a dozen. Found out that 3 of them are lightly molting! :/ Of course just molting enough that they don't lay any eggs but not molting enough to notice them actually molting. Crazy birds! :)

Only 5 eggs so far today. It's been cold, well actually freezing, had to set up the regular waterer because the auto watered hose froze up over night. This weekend we will work on getting the coop better insulated. We had to alter the auto door times because it is getting dark much earlier, (not 4:30 though ) all the girls are in by 5 pm though.

One!

Egg number 2 from the flock (they are 21 weeks today), this one laid in the coop sometime this morning before they were let out at 11:30. Again small and light brown so probably from a Fav. That makes it 2 for the Favs, 0 for the other 4 breeds.

The question for us is: Same bird as the one that laid an egg by the faucet on Friday?
